Recently, Andhra Pradesh State Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu stated that the government would take care of the state’s growers, ensuring they would not be affected under any circumstances. In this backdrop, on Wednesday he launched the Andhra Greens website for marketing agricultural and horticultural products from farmers across the state.
The minister stated that the website is designed to allow farmers to keep up to date on their products and also for customers to place orders online. Due to COVID-19 farmers have been in trouble selling the products. The minister said that online marketing systems like these are being promoted to solve this problem. Swiggy and Zomato are already selling fruits and vegetables in the state. Andhra Greens will serve the state in the same way, the minister added.
"Horticulture crops from 4.3 mln hectares across the state have produced 30.5 mln tons of fruits and vegetables while 812.000 fruit kits were distributed across the state during the COVID crisis," the minister said.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate Rythu Bharosa Centres by the end of this month, the minister added. Minister Kannababu has made it clear that there is no truth in the allegations made by the opposition that horticultural crops are not getting the right price.
