Today, the average price of good-grade bananas in banana production areas is around 2.70 yuan/kg. The overall market has declined, but in certain production areas it has become more stable.
In Yunnan, there are a limited number of purchasers and the overall market has declined; only a few areas there have seen relatively stable prices. Bananas from Laos are mainly shipped from Huixai and Vientiane and are traded at the border where prices are relatively stable. There are large volumes of ripe bananas in Myanmar, and the market is sluggish. Prices in Hainan have stabilized today.
Among the producers, prices in Laos have stabilized today. Areas currently making shipments in this country are Huixian, Vientiane, and Sainyabuli. Most products are traded at Mohan Port, ensuing high driving and transport costs. Due to the border being congested in an earlier period, farmers are not confident in making shipments. Although the congestion has improved, farmers still demand high prices, and only a few of the traders are willing to accept these terms and are not active in making purchases but, overall, the market has become more stable.
