The regulations on international travel to Spain published on Tuesday in the Official State Gazette, which allow international travel for people visiting for work purposes and who are able to certify it with documents, have led Afrucat, the Catalan fruit business association, to arrange the arrival of a group of Romanian workers in the province of Lleida.
Despite the possibility of traveling to Spain, the seasonal workers will first have to remain quarantined for 14 days; something that the central government will be imposing on all foreigners as of Friday. The sector's employers said that they will meet the requirements and that the companies will comply with the regulations, given the need for staff.
At the moment, transactions are already underway to allow the first group of workers to arrive by road. The sector will also be waiting to have all the documentation validated by the central administration in order to ensure the viability of chartering at least one plane. For its part, Afrucat has a list of 575 people, mainly specialized personnel.
