Peru produced 535,000 tons of mango in the 2019/2020 campaign, 41.6% (222,664,468 kilos) of which were exported as fresh mango for $256,306,278, as reported by the president of the Inform@ccion consultancy, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides.
The main mango producing region in that season was Piura with 434,105 tons, concentrating 81.3% of the total. It was followed by Lambayeque with 52,504 tons, Cajamarca with 11,028 tons, Lima with 7,875 tons, and Ica with 7,496 tons, among others.
In 2019, Peru had 29,000 hectares of mango. 20,000 hectares were located in Piura, 4,000 hectares in Lambayeque and the rest of the area was distributed between Ancash, Lima, and Ica, among other regions.
The main fresh mango exporting companies in the 2019/2020 campaign were: Sunshine Export with 23,158,292 kilos, Asica Farms with 12,219,136 kilos, Dominus with 13,828,693 kilos, Camposol with 12,673,103 kilos, FLP del Peru with 8,760,844, and others with 152,024,400 kilos.
