Russia: Orenburg region increases potato and vegetable production

Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Food and Processing Industry of the Orenburg Region Sergey Balykin took part in a meeting on the development of vegetable growing and potato growing in the Russian regions, increasing the availability and use of production stocks, which passed in the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

The main topic of the meeting was the prospects of increasing our own production of potatoes and vegetables for the period until 2025.

“In the Orenburg region in 2020 they plan to plant 8,900 hectares of potatoes in all categories of farms, 6,400 hectares will be sown with vegetables of open ground. There are plans to increase gross collection. So, by 2025 it is planned to increase potatoes from 32,400 tons to 60,000 tons per year, vegetables from 53,100 tons to 70,000 tons, ”said the First Vice Governor - First Deputy Prime Minister of the region - Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Food and Processing Industry Sergey Balykin.
