With the aim of guaranteeing the supply to the entire distribution chain and meeting the peaks in the demand for fresh potatoes that are being recorded during this period of confinement in Spain, Grupo LZR (Patatas Lázaro) has doubled its production and increased its staff by 25%.
The Valencia-based company has implemented additional control measures on top of its usual protocols to maximize the safety of workers at its facilities. Personal distances are required to be maintained and all personnel handling the products have been equipped with PPE, masks and protective gloves. Also, extraordinary permanent cleaning and disinfection procedures are in force.
Patatas Lázaro is strongly focused on food safety. The group incorporates the Food Defense guarantee in all its processes; rules and measures to protect food against deliberate contamination, making sure it is safe by the time it reaches the shelves and homes. Furthermore, it has been managing all its operations under the premises of automation and big data for a decade.
Today, Lázaro markets 100,000 tons of potatoes a year - 65% of Spanish origin and 35% of other origins - with an intelligent storage capacity of more than 15,000 tons.
