Checks slow down traffic at the Brenner

Francesco Cera, director of Maap Padua - a facility exporting 50% of goods - reports that traffic is slow at the Brenner, but not blocked. "We talked to the traffic department at the Klagenfurt Chamber of Commerce and they confirmed that trucks headed abroad can pass through Austria and will not be quarantined."

"They take the temperature of drivers at the border and check their throat and lungs. If there are no symptoms, drivers can proceed. The only aspect to consider is that all these operations slow traffic down."

Almost half of Italian exports headed to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe (Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic) pass the Alps. The Brenner is irreplaceable and risks being suffocated by these limitations that weigh on the Italian economy.
