The demand for greenhouse vegetables traditionally increases before the holidays in Ukraine. At this time, according to EastFruit, trading activity in the domestic cucumber segment has noticeably increased. However, due to a seasonal factor, the supply of cucumbers from local greenhouse farms cannot yet fully meet the domestic demand, so many key market players have decided to push the prices of local greenhouse cucumbers up.
Ukrainian greenhouse farms currently offer their cucumbers at a price of 64-66 UAH / kg ($ 2.59-2.67 / kg) depending on quality, variety and region. Thus, prices have increased by an average of 14% within a week.
It is worth noting that at the moment, Ukraine's domestic greenhouse cucumbers are on average 12% more expensive than in the same period last year. At the same time, many market players are confident that prices will again fall in the near future under the pressure of a growing supply of local cucumbers in the market.
