Late blackberry variety finally available

There is an exclusive agreement with Vivai Molari for three new blackberry varieties - Primear 45, Natchez and Oachita - one of which suitable for late production in Italy. The nursery has always specialized in soft fruit, looking for the best material available on the market to supply a wide range of fruits.

Together with the well-known Loch Ness and Chester, two of the main varieties available on the market, the three new cultivars can now be commercialized all over Europe.

Natchez

"Natchez is an early thorn-free floricane variety, 10 days earlier than Lock Ness, highly productive and with a medium-low need of chill hours. Fruits are very large and weigh 9 grams in general," explains technician Alessandro Gualandi.

Ouachita

"Ouachita is a thorn-free floricane variety with intermediate ripening, fruits are very good to eat and plants have a low need of chill hours. Feedback from field tests performed in northern and southern Italy was good. These two varieties complete the range of floricane blackberries."

 Primeark 45

Primeark 45 is the first remontant blackberry that has all it takes to stand out on the market. It makes it possible to obtain fruits in the late summer-fall period.

"Medium-thorny plants producing fruits with a medium-large grade that are good to eat. Good shelf-life that therefore makes fruits suitable to be exported. Adapts well to temperate climates such as the Po Valley as well as warm ones found in southern Italy and Spain. This variety makes it possible for our clients to produce Italian blackberries in periods when the imported fruit is traditionally available."

"We are very pleased with these varieties, as they will enable us to meet the needs of clients from various areas and climates. We are proud of being able to contribute to the development of soft fruit, which we are sure will become even more interesting in the future," says owner Gilberto Molinari.
