With such favorable weather conditions, the asparagus greenhouse harvesting has now begun in northern Italy. Thanks to an innovative processing system, the Orto Veneto company can customize asparagus to the specifications ordered by Italian or foreign clients and can dispatch complete or partial pallets on a daily basis.
Freshly sprout asparagus
The early asparagus of Orto Veneto, now certified organic, is harvested for a period of 60/70 days and placed on the market with the brand "Primo asparago". Orto Veneto aims to provide a high-end product, intended for real experts and lovers of this vegetable rich in vitamins and mineral salts, diuretic and low- calorie (25 kcal per 100 grams of edible shoots).
In order to ensure continuity in production, Orto Veneto cultivates another 15 hectares of new and old plants, using the best techniques with low environmental impact, thus extending the harvesting period to nearly 100 days.
After the harvest, the green asparagus of the Grolim cultivar undergoes a quick cleansing in sanitized water with a low bacterial load to improve its shelf life. Once it's mechanically calibrated and packaged by highly qualified and skilled personnel, the asparagus is then released on the market.
