“More than 20 types of fruit can be peeled with one machine”

This is the first year the automatic peeler manufacturer ASTRA Inc. attends Fruit Logistica. Mr. Ryo Takeshita, the sales manager of the company, was very happy to see that so many international visitors were showing interest in their automatic peeler.

The Peel-A-Ton model was ASTRA Inc.’s key focus in the exhibition. “More than 20 types of products can be handled with one single machine, including fruits such as orange, grapefruit, lemon, kiwi, and vegetables such as tomato, potato and turnip.” Mr Takeshita then explained how the peeler functions. “Users only need to place the product on the rotation head, select the peeling speed, peeling depth and other factors from the machine, and press the start button. There is no need to worry that the product is in an irregular shape, as the machine has a mechanism to optimize the position of the blade and find the best angle to peel it.”

The peelers are mostly used in juice shops, the catering industry, and are used in the supermarket backroom. “It is very easy to operate, in only a few seconds fruit can be peeled neatly and efficiently. The high-speed peeling process increases work efficiency for businesses and saves much on labor costs. I believe automatic peeling will become a popular trend soon,” Takeshita said. “There are some other players in the market that can produce a similar type of machine, but most of them are only able to process one type of fruit, and cannot change the settings automatically.” Mr Takeshita also said, “we have just begun our sales in the Chinese market. With a rocket start, China is already our second-biggest market after Japan.”

“Besides the Peel-A-Ton for peeling small products, the Peel-A-Ton XL is used for peeling larger sized products such as pineapple, mango and melon.” As ASTRA Inc. sees the booming opportunity in the overseas markets, the company is now looking for distributors in many areas.
