Banana prices stable with slight increases in China

As the coronavirus outbreak continues, ports in Myanmar's production areas have not yet opened, and the overall market has been volatile. In order to control the outbreak, inspections have been intensified in many areas in the production area Guangdong. Most of the fruit stalls in the markets have not yet resumed business the market has been relatively stable. Shipments from Yunnan have increased, and with the risen freight rates, banana prices have been stable with slight increases. The production volume in Guangxi has decreased, as many growers have cleared their plantations, so the overall prices are going up slightly. In Laos, traders making purchases have continued to increase, and the overall market is stable with slight increases.

Among production areas, the market in Guangxi is steady with slight increases. In a few areas, such as Longzhou, roads are closed, so it is difficult for trucks to enter. Banana farmers in these areas are anxious to make shipments. In Chongzuo and other places, good-quality products are marketed at 2.6-3.2 yuan/kg. There are a limited number of traders making purchases in areas such as Nanning. Recently, it has been difficult to find trucks in general. The freight cost has risen, and there are limited workers available. Many growers in Tian Dong and other places have cleared their plantations, so there’s a limited supply of good-quality products, driving prices up.
