According to Granfrutta Zani's sales manager Raffaele Bucella, the 2019 Tipo persimmon campaign can be defined as satisfactory. "We sold the last quantities before Christmas and we can be pleased both commercially as well as when it comes to quality. Over 90% of our production is of traditional fruits and quality this year was high."
Yields were 20% lower than 2018 however, as the weather was good, there was not much waste. "This in turn meant there was more produce available than in 2018, when there was a lot of waste."

The situation has not always been easy when it comes to packaging. "I would say this is a sort of 'confused revolution'. It seems that plastic has become the devil, but there are no valid alternatives. We have used RPET instead of polystyrene, but I believe we would need some good sense. Paper that must come into contact with food must be virgin and non-recycled so, when it comes to the environment, we need to think well and not get carried away by the emotions or passing trends."
Granfrutta Zani sells most of its produce in Italy, though some quantities are shipped to Switzerland and Austria. As usual, the company will attend Fruit Logistica in Berlin (February 5th-7th 2020, Hall 2.2/Stand A-08).
