Norwegian apples still in stores in December

In December, Norwegian wholesaler, Ullensvang Fruktlager SA, is still supplying Elstar apples to the Coop supermarkets in that country. That means the Norwegian apple season has been slightly extended.

“We are anxious to see how clients will react. We hope sales go well," writes Ullensvang Fruktlager in a press release.

The apple season usually lasts from August to November in Norway. During this time, imported apples are subject to import tariffs. That is done so Norwegian apples can compete.

It is not only Ullensvang Fruktlager that is supplying these apples. Another Norwegian supplier, Telefrukt, is also taking part in this test. In December, they will provide Coop with Rubinstep apples. “Coop will give the Elstar and Rubinstep apples extra attention. They will do so by running special marketing campaigns in their stores."

If the Elstar apples catch on, Ullensvang Fruktlager will work on expanding this further in the future.
