There is an ongoing trend in the packaging industry, as packaging is becoming a more important part of fruit sales. Good packaging can protect and maintain the quality of the fruits inside. Furthermore, a nice picture or nice design on the packaging could attract more consumers.
Especially during the holidays, special packaging is doing very well. Ms. Hu from Lvyuan Packaging explained the ongoing holiday trend: “We produce high-quality packaging and for the holidays, we have some special packaging with some holiday-related pictures on it. For example, for Valentine’s Day we have some special designs, and for Christmas. We can also produce packaging for other holidays, but these two holidays are the most popular ones. Furthermore, in recent years the demand for this kind of packaging has also increased.”
Lvyuan packaging is a manufacturer of customized packaging and they have clients worldwide. “If we look at our clients, currently we have a few more overseas clients than Chinese ones. Before we had a lot of trade with North America, but because of the current trade war, that has decreased a lot. The current tax on our products is 25% and that is too high to compete with other companies in the industry. Even though our North American export has decreased, our export to Australia increased this year, so that is a good development. We hope to grow further in the future, as we are able to deliver worldwide.”

According to Ms. Hu, the price for packaging is more stable this year. “Last year the raw materials for packaging increased compared with other years. So that is why last year the prices were a bit higher. Though this year the price is better and more stable. We always have PET certified materials, which are recyclable and therefore environment-friendly. All of our material get tested every year at least once, to make sure we will are in line with the standards.”
“We always design our own packaging. Every month we bring out some new designs to show our customers. This month we brought out a packaging with an improved opening mechanism. The packaging closes better and will not accidentally open by itself. This is something we developed by ourselves together with the feedback we get from our customers. We can develop customized designs if needed by the customers, but they can also choose from our own designs.”
