SA Fruits and IT specialist Opacc both claim some similarities: They are very successful Swiss companies with many years of experience and great expertise in their field. The Swiss-developed OpaccERP software and the included update guarantee brought the two companies together in an attempt to modernize the AG's fruit juice business software.
The AG for the fruit trade has served its customers since 1932 with fresh fruits and vegetables. Today, the wholesaler in Münchenstein (near Basel) is housed in an operating and logistics building, where all business activities are combined over an area of 6,000 square meters. The core competence lies in trade and services, which must be handled professionally and efficiently - after all, there is no time to waste on fresh products. Here products are sorted, packaged, labeled, priced and delivered daily throughout Switzerland. In addition, peanuts are roasted here and every week more than 200 tons of bananas are matured. The company has been using an ERP system since 1982. It ran on a Unix server, was no longer up-to-date, but very fast, because purely character-based.
OpaccDMAS - flexible and efficient
Speed was also one of the conditions that the new system had to meet, as users had to create a large number of delivery notes in no time at all. In all, a good ten ERP systems were spotted for the project, and four providers made a detailed offer. The new system must guarantee not only speed but also stability (of availability). In addition, it has a wide range of requirements to meet: Wholesale and Gastro delivery work in different areas very different. Orders are received by the AG for Fruit Trade to a greater extent by telephone. These orders must be recorded quickly and correctly before they are prepared. There are various functions available for this.
After preparations, the weights and the containers used are recorded. After delivery, goods and container returns are recorded in the same order family to ensure traceability. One of the special functions in OpaccERP is therefore the weighting of the cost price based on the order or the goods receipt. Deviations from supplier invoices must not change this price - often the goods are already sold before the invoice arrives. Other special functions include the recording of returns and the creation of collective invoices. Very important for the transparency and flexibility of all processes is the digital integration of all documents made possible by OpaccDMAS. This electronic data exchange has greatly improved the efficiency of entering delivery notes.
Reliable contribution margin controlOne of the most important factors in trade is the contribution margin, which is why its monitoring plays an important role in the treatment of orders; the positions are checked immediately after the order entry. In purchasing, all imputed purchase costs are already recorded when ordering. Various functions are available for the acquisition. This makes it possible to ensure that the retail margin agrees as precisely as possible at the time of goods receipt and thus reliable control of the contribution margin is also possible in the sales process. A major contribution to transparency and efficiency is the electronic document integration made possible by OpaccDMAS.
