First Namibian grapes go to Europe

HillFresh has closed an exclusive agreement with Solar Grapes in Namibia. With this agreement, HillFresh is responsible for selling 200 hectares of the grapes produced in the Aussenkehr Valley.

The first volumes of grapes were loaded in Namibia during week 43. "This is the start of the overseas season. This is very early compared to the previous years, namely two weeks earlier. The reason is the ideal conditions during cultivation and harvesting. The Brix levels and size of the grape are already at the desired levels," says Jan-Willem Lagendijk.

The first volumes harvested were of the Early Sweet variety. This was followed by Prime Seedless and a number of ARRA varieties. Finally, the harvest of the first red grapes has taken place. The first red grapes will be shipped in week 45.
