China: Banana prices stable after holiday, slight rise in some production areas

The National Day holiday [1 October, 2019] is over and the price of bananas is relatively stable. The market has gradually warmed up again and visiting traders in Guangxi, one of the major banana production areas in China, have begun to increase their orders. The average price level is quite reasonable.

Production areas and banana markets are in balance, but some people in the industry are worried that banana farmers will raise the asking price, which will dampen the enthusiasm of visiting traders. They hope that the banana industry will slowly and gradually warm up.

The price of bananas in Guangxi is quite stable, but the price of top-quality bananas is rising. The price increase is only small and the price level remains reasonable. The cost price of transport is acceptable and visiting traders are slowly raising the volume of their orders. The current price of top-quality bananas is around 3-3.5 yuan [0.42-0.49 USD] per kg, and the price of mediocre bananas is around 3 yuan [0.42 USD] per kg.
