Switzerland is a market opportunity with margins for growth

"With Switzerland we manage to make plans, bank on high-quality supplies, provide an excellent service and we receive a fair remuneration. We are trying to increase our exports to Austria and Slovenia as well," reports Franco Zecchinato, president of El Tamiso who also owns a stall at Maap, Padua's fresh produce market.

"We grow and sell organic produce and truly believe in it, it is not because we are trying to be fashionable. When we started of 35 years ago, we were the 'odd ones out', while now everyone looks at us with respect because they know us."

President Franco Zecchinato. This year, the cooperative celebrates its 35 year anniversary and 20 years at Maap

Zecchinato explains that there currently is a 40% drop when it comes to many vegetables. Of course organic productions are more susceptible to the weather.

In 2019, El Tamiso celebrates its 35 years of activity and 20 years at Maap. It operates all over Veneto and the other regions with 58 producers, 40 employees and a turnover of around €10 million.

Organic grape creates ready for delivery

"We hold the GlobalGAP certification so we can work with all domestic and foreign chains. The added value to our products is our social responsibility, which respects biodiversity and soil fertility. We also work with retehumus.it to try to counter and raise awareness as regards the lack of substance in soil."

"Our private clients are the H&R sector, other wholesalers, purchase groups and even the big retail chain. However the chains need to know how to promote the produce. Selling organic products without also providing a service with it and making special offers using them as bait and switch makes no sense."
