Argentine blueberries attract China's attention

Blueberry production in the Argentine province of Tucuman has attracted the attention of several Chinese companies interested in reaching agreements with local producers. The Chinese companies Altaifresh limited, Shanghai Mirong Fruit Co. ltd, and Freshport Group held meetings with representatives of Tucuman firms Kingberry, Earlycrop, Hortifrut Expofresh, and Frutucuman.

The meeting, which was attended by the president of the Institute of Productive Development (IDEP) of Tucuman, Juan Luis Fernandez, served to form links between the parties in order to continue commercial relations.

1.5% of the province's total exports has as its final destination China, and this conversation seeks to continue expanding Tucuman's presence in the Asian giant.

In 2018, Tucuman exported $ 27,080,470 in fresh blueberries to more than a dozen countries. This amount accounts for 89.98% of berry exports (far exceeding frozen blueberries and strawberries) and 2.72% of the province's total exports.
