"Structure of fruit sales market in China is changing"

With the rapid economic growth over recent years, China's middle class is constantly expanding, which means that the consumer base, with diversified demand for fruit and vegetables, is also growing. Exporters in many countries consider this growth as a good opportunity to export to China, but Mr. Liang believes that “exporting to the China market may seem easy, but in order to achieve real success, if no careful thoughts have been put into offering products that meet the needs of Chinese customers, you will lose the game soon or later. The Chinese consumer base is huge, but It does not mean that all kinds of products are suitable for this market. As a professional importer in China, we are very familiar with the bitterness and sweetness associated with this, so it’s of paramount importance to us to thoroughly understand the market and customize the product to meet the ever-changing customer needs.”

According to Mr. Liang, the secret to achieving growth as a specialized importer lies in integrating core resources and continuously building sales channels. Simple trading activities will gradually be left behind, replaced by in-depth integration and cooperation between resources and distributors where resources can be shared and a win-win situation can be brought about.

Mr. Liang explained that the overall distribution structure of fruit in China is also undergoing subtle changes. In the past, most fruit used to first enter primary import markets such as Guangzhou or Shanghai before entering secondary or tertiary wholesale markets. However, a trend taking place today is that secondary wholesalers are trying to take part in the imported fruit business without the involvement of primary wholesale markets. As a result, the share of the primary markets is gradually shrinking, so first-tier importers must think about moving down to lower-tier cities in the future.

“More and more people with a higher education background have joined the industry, which is a good sign for the future. In addition, this traditional industry is also attracting new capital. As a professional importer and exporter, we work with overseas partners and have a rich experience in operations and a Structure deep understanding of the Far East market.
