"Structure of fruit sales market in China is changing"

With the rapid economic growth over recent years, China's middle class is constantly expanding, which means that the consumer base, with diversified demand for fruit and vegetables, is also growing. Mr. Liang explained that the overall distribution structure of fruit in China is also undergoing subtle changes. In the past, most fruit used to first enter primary import markets such as Guangzhou or Shanghai before entering secondary or tertiary wholesale markets. However, a trend taking place today is that secondary wholesalers are trying to take part in the imported fruit business without the involvement of primary wholesale markets. As a result, the share of the primary markets is gradually shrinking, so first-tier importers must think about moving down to lower-tier cities in the future.
