From 18 September, the Swiss-Italian shipping company, MCS, will call directly at the Port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands every week. The ships will dock there once they have been to the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. From Vlissingen, the cargo vessels will make their way to West Africa. The MSC Alabama will be the first ship to depart from this Dutch port on 18 September.
Angola Express Service
The ANGOLA EXPRESS Service between Northern Europe and West Africa has been adapted. The addition of Vlissingen is part of this adaption. This change provides a fast, direct service to Senegal, Guinea, and the Ivory Coast. From mid-September, the Angola Express Service rotation will, therefore, consists of the eleven ports. They are St Petersburg, Antwerp, Vlissingen, Le Havre, Sines, Las Palmas, Dakar, Conakry, San Pedro, Lomé, and Luanda.
Vlissingen Port was mainly added because of the export of onions and potatoes from the Netherlands to West Africa. Mostly fruit and vegetables are transported on this line. MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company allows for the transfer of containers to the global network. This is done at the Le Havre and Las Palmas transit terminals.
