Typhoon "Lekima" lands near Shanghai, lower temperatures could increase banana consumption

The price of bananas in Chinese production areas has recently been quite stable. The overall price differences between production areas are not that great. The price showed a slight decline in major production areas in Guangxi and Guangdong in the first half of the season, but their price is now stable as well. The category 7 typhoon that just arrived in China is not likely to impact banana supply.

Bananas from Guangxi are gradually entering the market in large volumes. The product quality is stable and the prices remains high. The banana price was relatively low before and so the market is still adjusting to the high banana price in Guangxi.

The typhoon "Lekima" has reached Zhejiang. The typhoon is expected to return to sea from Jiangsu and then land again in Shandong. Even though this typhoon caused damage in many different areas, the typhoon also helped to bring down the high temperatures in north and central China. The lower temperatures may speed up banana consumption.
