California grower begins shipping organic lemons

A&A Organic Farms out of Watsonville, Ca. has begun shipping organic lemons. The lemons are part of a new partnership with organic farmers in Hermosillo Mexico, the company said. A & A Organic Farms is currently offering both Fancy & Choice Lemons in sizes 75ct, 95ct, 115ct, 140ct, 165ct & 200ct; The lemons are packed in 40# bulk boxes. In addition to this A&A Organic Farms will offer the traditional 18 x 2 LB. bagged lemons and have introduced a new pack of 9 x 2 LB Bags. It said this lower count offers the smaller stores an option to reduce shrink. “Our lemon bags have a UPC header and are bi-lingual with both French and English; to better serve our Canadian customers,” said President Andy Martin.

A & A Organic Farms Fancy Lemons have a GTIN bar coded PLU sticker on each fruit; choice lemons do not have PLU stickers. A&A Organic Farms offers a strip of PLU stickers in some of the Choice boxes for customers seeking a lower price point. These lemons are available to load in Irwindale, CA.

The company said it will now be able to offer customers more citrus options from Mexico - organic early oranges, organic Valencia oranges and Murcott tangerines as well as organic lemons. These items will be in sold bags and in bulk along with bulk for juicing. Oranges will be available from Mid December to May.
