China: Banana prices in various production regions rose in early August

Recently, banana prices in various production regions in China and abroad have been steadily rising, most notably in Guangxi and Laos. Affected by the dry weather over the previous period, general prices for good quality produce fell to 2.8-3.5 yuan/kg. Now that the quality has gradually stabilized and buyers have higher demands, the price of good quality products at origin has risen 0.2-0.3 yuan/kg.

Shipments from Chongzuo, Tiandong and other areas in Guangxi are increasing, so a large number of buyers and agents have moved to Guangxi to source products. The season in Hainan is close to an end, and most plantations in southern Hainan have been cleared, only in the north are there still shipments from Dengmai and Lingao. Industry insiders expect the Pearl River Delta to enter the peak sales season in mid-to-late August.
