"Our sweet potatoes are not yet entirely ripe. The sweet potatoes need to grow a bit more before they meet commercial requirements, but their appearance already looks good. We expect that our sweet potatoes will be ready for harvest by the end of August. After a brief period in which the sweet potatoes increase their sugar content, the sweet potatoes will then enter the market in early September." "The growing period of sweet potatoes is around 90 days. Sweet potatoes from south China are planted earlier and therefore enter the market earlier than the sweet potatoes from northeastern China. The supply volume of sweet potatoes from south China will gradually increase over the next days and weeks. However, this is not a threat to the sweet potato production areas in northeastern China. The main reasons for this situation are as follows: first, the temperature in northeastern China is lower. The difference in temperature between day and night is great, which is more suitable for the growth of sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes exposed to this difference in temperature are sweeter because they take longer to increase the sugar content. Second, we planted a new sweet potato variety this year. The sugar content of this variety is much higher than regular varieties and will therefore be able to better satisfy the requirements of consumers."
"The supply of sweet potatoes could, in theory, last all year. Potatoes are relatively easy to store. However, the demand for sweet potatoes always exceeds supply. The sweet potatoes stored in warehouses last year were already sold out in May of this year. We expect the harvest this year to be sold out equally fast. We have an organic sweet potato farm in Kangping County, Liaoning, that covers 100 hectares. Our sweet potatoes are sold through traditional retail channels in the wholesale markets and supermarkets of first- and second-tier cities throughout China."
