Suitable protection systems needed against extreme weather events

Everybody can see how the climate is changing. Protecting crops with suitable solutions is almost compulsory due to the growing strength of weather events.

A modern fruit orchard requires a support and/or protection system with state-of-the-art materials that can guarantee the maximum efficiency.

Contec is one of the leading suppliers of equipment to set up pre-stressed reinforced concrete poles.

"Nowadays, it is unthinkable to start cultivating fruit without protecting the orchards. A key element for all net setups (anti-hail, anti-rain or anti-insects) are poles. Pre-stressed reinforced concrete ones are more stable, efficient, adaptable and long-lasting. We have all the technology necessary to build them, and we sell them all over the world," explained founder Fabrizio Raccanello.

Manager Aziz Mataoui travels all over the world to illustrate the characteristics of the poles obtained thanks to Contec machinery.

In order to provide a complete service to clients - i.e. entrepreneurs with hundreds or even thousands of hectares - Contec can count on a network of partner companies that cooperate to deliver a "turnkey" system.

Poles have a trapezoidal section with varying measures depending on the load. The most popular are 4 or 5 and the equipment varies according to each measure.

Pre-stressing is a technique that consists in artificially tensioning the material - reinforced concrete in particular - so as to make it more resistant. In this case, pre-stressing is used to counter the low resistance to traction of the cement conglomerate.

"We care a lot about the safety of operators. Design, manufacture and management must all be safe. What is more, our solutions are designed and manufactured in Italy," added manager Mataoui.

"Together with partners Silvano Baccega and Giorgio Tonin, we were the first ones to use the pre-stressing technique, providing specific consultations to our clients and introducing new technologies that can guarantee the maximum profitability," concluded the owner.
