The Hainan honey pomelo has already entered the market in large volumes. The highest wholesale price in production areas reached 4.5 yuan [0.65 USD] per 0.5 kg. The lowest price was around 3.8 yuan [0.55 USD] per 0.5 kg. The price is much higher than around this time last year. The Hainan honey pomelo entered the market on June 25th this year, which is more than 20 days earlier than last year. The Hainan honey pomelo entered the market one month earlier than other domestic honey pomelo. The production season is expected to finish around July 25th. The Hainan honey pomelo will leave the market before honey pomelo from other production areas begin to enter the market. The supply seasons do not overlap at all.
The production quality of honey pomelo is excellent this year. Many visiting buyers were attracted by the reputation of Hainan honey pomelo. Early in the production season, the prices of Red Meat honey pomelo and Three Red honey pomelo in production areas were around 4-4.5 yuan [0.58-0.65 USD] per 0.5 kg. Later in the season the prices dropped to 3.5-3.8 yuan [0.52-0.55 USD] per 0.5 kg. This is much higher than the price of 2-3 yuan [0.29-0.44 USD] per 0.5 kg last year. The market conditions were not bad last year and many buyers made a profit. This year their enthusiasm is even greater. Buyers are fighting to get their hands on the best products. This was another abundant year for Hainan pomelo growers.
