Peru's agricultural export balance in first five months of 2019
In the first five months of 2019, exports of Peruvian horticultural products amounted to 2.537 million dollars, i.e. 1.7% more than the 2.494 million dollars achieved in the same period of 2018. The three most important export products in that period, in terms of volume, were grapes, avocados, and blueberries.
Grape exports amounted to 357 million dollars in that period, and reached more than 20 countries in America, Europe, and Asia; including the United States, Hong Kong, Holland, China, Mexico, Thailand, Spain, Canada, Russia, Korea, Colombia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, England, Saudi Arabia, and Portugal.
The avocado export volume increased by 2% and export amounted to 280 million dollars. The main destination markets were Holland, United States, Spain, England, China, Chile, Hong Kong, Russia, Japan, Canada, Germany, Costa Rica, Belgium, France, and Portugal, among others.
Fresh and dried mango exports grew by 3% and totaled 64 million dollars. The main destinations were Holland, the United States, Spain, Korea, England, France, Canada, Chile, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Ecuador, Russia, Mexico, Belgium, and Italy, among others.
Frozen mango exports amounted to 64 million dollars (+3%). The main destination markets were the United States, Canada, Belgium, Japan, Holland, Germany, Poland, Korea, Chile, England, Sweden, Australia, Norway, Spain, Mexico, Israel, France, Croatia, and New Zealand, among other places.
The main destination for the country's fresh and chilled asparagus exports was the United States, but they also had great reception in Holland, England, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Japan, France, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, and Taiwan, among other markets.
Blueberry exports in the aforementioned period increased by 68% and amounted to 84 million. This product was marketed in the United States, Holland, England, China, Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil, Spain, Thailand, Costa Rica, Germany, Malaysia, and Belgium, among other places.
Cavendish Valery bananas
The main destination markets for the Cavendish Valery bananas were Holland, the United States, Panama, Belgium, Germany, Korea, Japan, England, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Canada, Chile, Portugal, Spain, and Aruba.
The main destination markets for the country's pomegranates were Holland, Russia, England, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, Lebanon, Colombia, Iraq, Indonesia, Germany, Qatar, Kuwait, and Spain, among others.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, the United States was the main destination for the country's agro-exports in the first five months of the year with 28% of the total exported. It was followed by Holland with 16% and then by Spain, Ecuador, China, England, Colombia, Chile, Germany, and Hong Kong. Together, these 10 countries accounted for 74% of the total exported.
