According to data published by the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH), exports of agricultural products in the first four months of the year amounted to 342.7 million dollars, i.e. 21.9 million or 6.8% higher than in the same period of 2018.
This growth is linked to the increase in melon and watermelon exports, which increased by 38.4 million dollars and amounted to 103.1 million. According to the report, there is a greater demand in markets such as the United States, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Revenues from banana exports amounted to 160.4 million dollars, i.e. 18.2 million or 10.2% less than in the same period of last year.
Despite having increased the export volume by 5.5% (9.9 million dollars, this decrease is basically explained by the 14.9 percent decrease in the international average price (28.1 million dollars).
