Since last week and until week 36, Hoogsteder sells organic blueberries. Tristan Nault, account manager of the company, cannot praise enough the work of his producer and the quality of this small purple berries. “We chose to work with only one producer, Ronald Veens, simply because we are delighted with the exceptional quality of his production and his working method. He offers several blueberry varieties, such as the Duke, Liberty, Draper, Aurora and Brigita, all with a delicious taste and crunch. Since we started working with these products, despite their reputation as fragile fruits, we have never been rejected by any supermarket. The quality of the blueberries is always constant, both in terms of appearance and taste.”
Since 1998, Ronald Veens has been passionately cultivating most of his organic blueberries in a protected natural area called “De Peel”. “The soil is ideal for organic blueberries, which means that he needs very few inputs to produce quality berries. With 45 hectares of forests and water sources, his organic blueberry crops benefit from a very favorable environment,” explains Tristan. “But besides the quality of his production, Ronald is passionate about his work. What drives him about organic farming is to be able to work with nature. He likes the challenge this represents, in order to eventually produce a good harvest each year.”
