Akil Juicer has begun processing Persian lemon concentrate and lemon oil for export to the United States and Europe, and has opened the border with China for the first time. Last year, the Akil Juicer processed 7,000 tons of fruit, paying 900 pesos per ton to citrus growers.
In 2019 the juicer plans to process 5 thousand tons of Persian lemon paying one thousand pesos per ton to citrus growers; it could increase the number of tons for juice concentrate and oil once Persian lemon harvests increase, which have not been so abundant due to lack of rainfall in the last period.
The Persian lemon harvest of this campaign in the Yucatan is estimated at about 40-60 thousand tons that will begin to harvest from June to September, a period of time in which the Akil Plant will be working in the process of lemon juice concentrate and oil. Very soon they will start exporting the containers to the United States, Europe and China and marketing them on the domestic market.
