Plastic is a valuable material if used correctly

One of the concepts that emerged last week during the annual assembly at CPR System is that the problem is not plastic per se, but the fact that it is disposable.

"Plastic is a material that can be reused an infinite number of times and the environmental damage is caused by humans being uncivilized and by bad disposal methods. Our creates were designed to be regenerated once at the end of their career," explained director Monica Artosi.

In 2020, after over 20 years, we will change the color of our crates, changing it from green to beige or maybe gray.

Science communicator Mario Tozzi explained that "to avoid filling the environment with plastic, we must reuse it - a key factor that is not being stressed enough. CPR System presents a model that meets this need. Plastic is not bad per se, but it is its uncontrolled release into the environment that has devastating effect. We have solutions that can invert the trend."

"2018 was a difficult year for the Italian produce, as were the first five months of 2019. We have indeed strengthened our position and reached a record turnover of almost €140 million (+4.5% than 2017), but the increase is due to other sectors such as meat and fish," adds Monica Artosi.

Pallet handling is also growing, with little over 6 million handlings (+3.5% than 2017). "The figures prove the success of our model which, thanks to the efficiency and inexpensiveness of the services offered, continues to grow also giving a concrete contribution to safeguarding the environment."

"We are now focusing our energy on R&D. We managed to become leaders in the sector and, most of all, we have maintained our fundamental values unaltered. Using CPR System's packaging solutions helps the environment as it creates no waste, a philosophy we will also employ for our future projects. We closed the year with a turnover of €55.6 million but, most of all, with €17 million of share capital and a net worth of €37.16 million, so we could say our model is a successful one" explained president Francesco Avanzini.
