Israeli start-up makes biodegradable plastic

The Israeli start-up, TIPA, manufactures plastic packaging from organic material. After use, it disintegrates and is used as compost.

The scientists at TIPA are trying to find ways to replace plastic packaging for food. Plastic has been a problem in Israel and the rest of the world for many years now. Natural elements inspired the company. For example, the peel of an orange protects the fruit. After it is thrown away, it decays.

Several European supermarkets have introduced this packaging for their fresh fruit.
