In China there is a growing demand for cold storage and ripening rooms. More attention is given to the better preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables nowadays, not only because it can extend the shelf life of a certain fruit, but also because it can effectively protect their freshness. This better meets the higher requirements Chinese consumers have for fruits.
So, in order to maintain the fruits freshness and high quality, a good and better cooled environment is needed, though not all companies can invest in such a high-cost project. As Jocelyn Hsiung from Jiuye Supply Chain (Hereafter called ‘Jiuye’) mentioned: “In recent years we have seen the demand for cold storage or ripening rooms increase. It has to do with the higher quality consumers demand for their fruits, it also has to do with new fruit trends that develop in the Chinese market, like avocados. Avocado is a fruit with a lot of potential for the Chinese market, however most people are not familiar with it, and don't know how to ripen it in the right way. That is where our company, as a leading fresh supply chain service platform in China, that provides diversified solutions for the market, have spent a lot of time and energy to guide the public understanding of the ripening process.”
The inside of the ripening room
Jiuye was established in 2014. Since then, they have invested a lot of time and research into providing the best cold chain solutions. They made use of foreign and domestic advanced technologies to build their high-tech ripening rooms and cold storage centers. “We have 31 different fresh distribution centers in China. We provide our customers with customized cold supply chain solutions when they want to transport or import their perishable products in China.
For companies that do not have their own cold storage available, this is ideal, they do not have to invest to establish their own, but can make use of ours with our services. Besides providing this service, we also have designed our own data system, where our customer can see his transport during the whole process and can see where to improve it for the future.”
“In the second half of the year, we built a new ripening center to artificially ripen mature fruits such as bananas, avocados and mangoes using artificial intelligence ripening technology. The ripening of bananas is completed in a ripening room. This seems quite difficult, but in fact, the whole process can be controlled by the monitor of the operating system, and then automatically completed. In this way, considering the needs of various aspects of the back-end circulation, the corresponding maturity can be accurately controlled.”
