In 2018, Slovene citizens consumed on average the most cereals, i.e. 126 kg, and vegetables, i.e. 117 kg; Slovene citizen also consumed on average 93 kg of meat, 88 kg of of fresh fruits, 67 kg of potato, 11 kg of eggs, 5 kg of rice and 1 kilo of honey.
Self-sufficiency rates for vegetables, fruits, potato and cereals
Slovenia has especially low rates of self-sufficiency were shown by supply balance sheets for vegetables (39%), fruits (48%), potato (48%) and cereals (68%) in 2018; self-sufficiency rates were higher in supply balance sheets for meat (81%) and eggs (96%).68-percent rate of self-sufficiency for cereals
Domestic production of cereals reached almost 600,000 tons in 2018 and domestic consumption almost 880,000 tons, therefore the self-sufficiency rate for cereals was quite low (68%). Production of all fruits amounted to slightly more than 190,000 tons in the same year, and the domestic consumption 400,000 tons, therefore the self-sufficiency rate was only 48-percent.
