"While last year as characterized by cracking problems, the new Uva da tavola di Mazzarrone IGP season is looking better," explains Gianni Raniolo, president of the consortium.
"Although the first harvest was around fifteen days late, quality is high. Blossoming was excellent and bunches developed harmoniously. Quantities are within the seasonal average and brix level is currently 14 but will increase soon."
"Although temperatures this spring were not in line with the season, we have had no problems caused by the weather. We will be ready for shipment already over the next few days with both early varieties - Victoria and Black Magic."
"The fact that we did not encounter any problem during the growth and development of bunches enabled us to follow our schedule and comply with all supply programs, so much so that we are receiving requests from both Italian and foreign retailers."
This year, the consortium has also managed to sign agreements for the shipment of produce to both Canada and Uruguay. Destinations in the Middle East were also confirmed (the produce is shipped fresh by air).
"We are also developing a rather ambitious project thanks to our marketing department - we will supply not only retail chains in Dubai, but the H&R sector as well."
