Between January and February this year, Moroccan tomato exports to Spain have increased by 23.59%, totalling 18.25 million kilos at an average price of 0.94 Euro per kilo, compared to 14.22 million kilos imported in the same period of 2018, according to data from the statistical service Estacom (Icex-Tax Agency), with TARIC codes.
In the last five years, and looking at the period between January and February, Spain's tomato purchases from Morocco have increased by 179.78%.
Regarding Spanish tomato exports in the same period, the increase compared to the first two months of the previous year was of 5.21%, as Spain shipped 230.45 million kilos of tomatoes overseas in January and February 2019, obtaining 271 million Euro for them, with an average price of 1.17 Euro per kilo.
In the same period of the previous year, the volume stood at 228.75 million kilos worth 257.58 million Euro, with an average price of 1.13 Euro per kilo.
In the last five years, the Spanish export of tomatoes in January and February has fallen by 16.67%, since in 2015 Spain exported 276.55 million kilos of tomatoes worth 288.79 million Euro, with an average price of 1.04 Euro per kilo.
