The weather has affected the season

Mexico's lime harvest will decrease by an estimated 20%

The worrying weather conditions being experienced in the central region of Tamaulipas have severely hit the fruit sector, specifically the lime crops. According to estimates, the damage to the trees will decrease the harvest by 20%.

The crops have been affected by the extreme weather phenomena and the diseases that affected the trees between December 2018 and January 2019, which led to an important decrease in sales of this citrus in the United States within the export cycle.

According to Rigoberto Mascorro Rivera, a member of the citrus social sector attached to the CNC, since they don't known exactly how much the harvest will decrease, everything will depend on the production and its quality, that is, if the limes meet export conditions.
