The price of Chinese apples has been strong since the overall production volume declined in 2018. The purchase price of first- and second-grade Yantai 80# apples was around 4 yuan [0.58 USD] per 0.5 kg in autumn last year. That price increased to around 6.3-6.5 yuan [0.93-0.95 USD] per 0.5 kg on May 1st, 2019.
The apple price already reached record heights. The competition with other fruits in May and June will limit the price growth of apples from storage. The next price increase will likely take place in middle to late July when other fruits gradually retreat from the market. The Chinese apple price is expected to reach new heights then.
