Switzerland: Still many apples in stock

The apple stocks in Switzerland are not empty yet. 26,727 tonnes of dessert apples and 1,227 tonnes of organic apples are still awaiting sale, reports Swisscofel. At the end of April 2019, 26,727 tonnes of dessert apples were in stock. Compared to 2017, inventories are 4,164 tonnes higher. Even in the organic sector, the storages are not empty. Thus, 26 percent (1,227 tons) are still for sale. In stock are 30 tons more than in March 2019 and 71 tons more than in April 2018.

The main stocks of conventional apples consist of Gala (7,945 tonnes), Golden Delicious (5,534 tonnes), Premium (4,796 tonnes) and Braeburn (4,358 tonnes).

Pears
Regarding table pears, the storages will soon be empty, near the end of the season. There are still 641 tonnes of Beurré Bosc and 35 tonnes of other pears in stock. The organic pears are completely gone.
