The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries has announced that 1000 tons of dates will be available on the markets during Ramadan.
Following an agreement between the Ministry and date suppliers, the kilogram will be sold as follows: 7 dinars 900 millimes per kilogram of branchées dates and 5 dinars 800 millimes per kilogram of bulk dates.
During the 2018/2019 date export season, from 1 October 2018 to 22 March 2019, Tunisia was able to export more than 77,000 tonnes of dates worth 548 million dinars against 73,000 tonnes worth 446 million dinars over the same period last year. This represents an increase of 5 % in volume and 22.6 % in value, while knowing that 2018 was a record year for date exports.
