One of the objectives of Fra.Va. Srl, a company located in Puglia, is to keep up to date when it comes to innovation so as to supply products that are increasingly competitive. This year, the company has decided to improve the efficiency of its optic grader to process cherries using the new "InVision Total View" system.
The optical grader
The machine is manufactured by ICOEL (Fondi) in collaboration with New Zealander Compac Sorting Equipment. It enables the processing of around 6 tons of cherries an hour sorting them by color, size, defects and firmness.
The new "InVision Total View" system
Thanks to the "InVision Total View" system, Compac developed a technology that can improve the quality standards of clients already using the InVision 9000 CIR software.
Each line is equipped with two additional high-resolution color and infra-red cameras as well as a LED system to provide as much light as possible.
A perfect identikit for each single cherry
These cameras collect information from two new different angles so as to obtain a correct analysis of the top and bottom parts of each single cherry.
By combining the new "Total View" upgrade with the 180° fruit rotation system, Compac managed create the first system that can see and scan 100% of the fruit's surface.
The system is an additional support to overcome some of the usual problems encountered during cherry processing such as excessive stalk length, a high percentage of rain damage and the need for specialized labor.
Fra.Va. Srl is the first company in Puglia to have installed the new Compac software and is therefore able to guarantee the best possible selection of cherries with excellent quality, appearance and flavor.
