The key period in the growth of 8424 watermelons is in February and March, but this year the sky was clouded and rainfall near-continuous. The watermelons did not receive enough sunlight to mature and the overall temperature was too low for regular development. The watermelons therefore take longer to grow. Whether the production volume will decline is still uncertain, but the watermelons will not enter the market before the last week of May.
Watermelons can be enjoyed in Ningbo almost year-round because they are grown in greenhouses. The watermelons currently available in Ningbo are Unicorn watermelons from Hainan and Yunnan. However, their supply season is almost over, which neatly coincides with the beginning of the 8424 watermelon supply season.
