Christoph Bouvry, Bouvry

“We are expecting the first Spanish cherries by the end of next week”

“At the moment, strawberries and asparagus are the most popular products we offer. There is sufficient supply to meet the demand. Prices are also very favorable. The price for both these products is low for this time of year. This is helping sales," says Christoph Bouvry of Bouvry, the Belgian wholesaler of the same name.

“We see that, after the winter, people look forward to eating other fruits. The first nectarines and cherries are gradually coming on to the market. By the end of next week, we are expecting the first Spanish cherries too. Cherries have not been on the market for a long time now. People are longing for them again."

Star Class
A lot of Bouvry's fruit is sold under its own brand, Star Class. “We have noticed that many clients insist on having Star Class products. The demand for Star Class products keeps increasing. Currently, we have a few Belgian products under this label. However, I am not excluding the possibility of selling products from other countries of origin under this mark in the future," says Christoph.

“The top fruit market is bad. Despite this, our Star Class apples and pears are selling well. The demand is good. Our top fruit sales for this year have not decreased compared to other years. That is a good thing. We are striving for good quality with this brand. We have built up a client base that knows it can always rely on Star Class products.”

Bouvry distinguishes itself from other wholesalers. They do so by offering Star Class products. They also lend good service and offer an assortment of products that are sometimes a little different. Most of this company's clients are based in Belgium. Some of Bouvry's products also go to France.

“A large amount of our soft fruit, in particular, finds its way to France. About 40% goes to our southern neighbors. The remainder stays in Belgium," concludes Bouvry.
