"Easter week was very good: sales boomed and quantities skyrocketed with over 100 tons bought every day. Prices were very pleasing and demand increased a lot, so much so that supply could not meet demand despite the higher production. Demand was also lively from abroad and many loads were shipped to northern Europe already on April 19th," explains Pietro Ciardiello, director of Cooperativa Sole.
Although one cultivar was particularly popular, they were all in demand from the various markets. "We have always managed to guarantee high-quality, health and sustainability."
"The week before Easter was rather demanding, as we needed to make the produce ready to reach the various markets in little time. Workers are still working hard to make the produce available in a short time."
"On 31st March, we recorded a 30% increase in both turnover and production. We have now reached a 40% increase in production, though value has dropped a little because prices are lower than last year. Nonetheless, our balance sheet is positive."
"We are hoping to practically eliminate treatments and, with this purpose in mind, we will present a new brand at Macfrut - Sibon."
"It is our new premium range for both organic and integrated control strawberries. The fruit will be more flavorful and natural with a higher Brix level. The packaging aims at a higher environmental sustainability as it is made of recyclable cardboard. The produce will be traceable and bear a QR code."
