China: Average price of fruit in Shenzhen expected to rise in April

Data from the Daily Necessity Price Surveillance in Shenzhen, Guangdong, shows that overall market for daily necessities was stable and the average price showed a slight increase.

The seasonal fruit in Shenzhen markets currently consists mainly of tropical fruit, but the production volume is smaller than in summer or autumn. Some of the fruit is off-season fruit from glasshouse plantations. Their cost price is higher than normal. The prediction for April is therefore that the average price of fresh fruit will rise. As for vegetables, the supply volume is expected to be more than sufficient as a result of favorable weather conditions. The supply is likely to exceed demand, and provided that there are no other influencing factors, the price will slightly fall in April.
