Mitrosilis completes second training of its kiwi producers

For the second consecutive year MitrosĪ¹lis S.A. successfully completed a workshop for the training of its own Kiwi producers on 15th April 2019 in Katerini and on 16th April 2019 in Arta. The training was conducted by Assistant Professor of Pomology / Dept. of Horticulture & Landscape Architecture in Colorado University, USA, Dr. Ioannis Minas, during which he informed the producers for all modern cultivation techniques that should be applied in the cultivation of Kiwi to ensure optimum quality, taste and post-harvest maintainability. Due to the rapid increase of Kiwi production in Greece, it is necessary to ensure the best possible quality in order to maintain our competitive advantage.


Dr. Ioannis Minas and Christos Mitrosilis

Dr. Ioannis Minas comes from the village of Kalyvia in Pella, Greece. He received his Bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree from the Agricultural Faculty of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in July 2007. On January 2010 he supported his postgraduate thesis on ' Effect of ozone application during cold storage of kiwifruit on the development of stem-end rot caused by Botrytis cinerea,' in the context of the Postgraduate Program of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

During the second cycle of his postgraduate studies he produced a significant part of his doctoral dissertation for 2 years (2010-2011), in the Department of Plant Sciences, in the University of California, Davis, California, USA. From 2015 he is an Assistant Professor of Arboriculture at the Department of Fruit and Vegetable and Landscape Architecture at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, USA.
