Shopping app is in the works

Migros: New platform for online food retailing

Migros apparently want to reform its online supermarket, an internal message shows. What that means for LeShop is still unclear.

Under the project name "Migros Food Online" (MFO), Migros intends to reinvent the online supermarket for its customers. This was reported by e-commerce blog Carpathia, citing an internal message from Migros. What is happening with LeShop is still uncertain, said LeShop boss Urs Schumacher. Next year, LeShop is to be restrained by Migros trading and marketing departments. Schumacher is to lead MFO. MFO should pool the digital skills of the Migros Cooperative Alliance and LeShop.

Online shopping will become quicker, more convenient and independent of the channel, Schumacher told the Handelszeitung. In the future, a new shopping app is also in the works, in which the social shopping platform Amigos or the personalized online shop "my Migros" are to be integrated. The latter is currently being tested by Migros Aare in the Bern area. When the new platform will officially be launched is not yet clear.
