South Tyrol: wholesale prices for apples

Prices for all varieties significantly below last year's level

A look at the latest wholesale prices for the month of March shows that the prices for the new crop are well below the level of the previous year for all available varieties. If we regard the very low 2017 harvest and the following marketing season as an exception and compare the figures with the available figures from the previous year, then developments are quite different. For the varieties Cripps Pink, Granny Smith and Golden Delicious the average prices are currently higher than in March 2017, those for the Kanzi, Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious and Braeburn varieties were higher in the same month of 2017. This is reported by the economic research institute WIFO in Bolzano.

In March 2019, WIFO raised prices for all the major South Tyrolean apple varieties - Braeburn, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Cripps Pink, Kanzi and Red Delicious. The published prices are always gross prices.
